The Quarter Sawn Oak Wood Type

Quarter Sawn Oak is a hardwood cut from white oak. The log is specially cut at a 90 degree angle to follow the growth lines that the tree’s rings made as it grew. The resulting surface has distinctive lines called ray flecks. Because the ray flecks in the wood give the look of antique furniture, quarter sawn oak is a popular choice for Shaker and Mission style pieces. This distinctive wood type is an excellent choice for creating long-lasting Amish furniture with timeless style.
